for the love of food
i forgot to show you a picture of atlas and his thanksgiving dinner!
if atlas were writing this post, he would say, “look at my empty bowl. there was a giant turkey and an entire table full of food and they didn’t give me any of it. poor me. i was so hungry.”
ha.
first of all, he eats at the speed of lightning. i don’t think he even chews his food. i had my camera ready before i gave him his bowl and i still couldn’t capture it. second of all, he ate about three dinners. amy fed him turkey while she was carving it. i gave him his bowl of food before we ate. while we ate, he wandered – happy and drooling – back and forth between amy and me, the two people he knew would feed him.
speaking of things atlas would say, here is another one of his opinions: “people don’t bring bread for the ducks. they bring bread for me!” you know, because the ducks are well-fed and he is not. if there are no ducks and people around, i let him eat it, mostly because i’m not convinced that bread is good for ducks.
want to know just how much atlas loves food? he doesn’t like water. he will only rarely go into the water after me, his favorite person. but once, he walked right into the pond to get a tiny piece of bread.
in order of love, it goes kitties, food, then me.

- my atlas pup, weimaraner wednesday
naw.
i can’t believe that order of his preference.
i’m still laughing about thanksgiving. LOL.
have i told you lately how much i love atlas wednesdays?
i just love atlas! drool and all.
Number 3 not so bad, particularly given his number 1 and 2 choices.
Bread is indeed not good for ducks. What happens is it swells up in their stomach, they can’t get it out and they starve to death. It is kinder to feed them bird seed.
Indy, my Lab loves turkey too. I always give him Thanksgiving in his bowl when we celebrate.
don’t worry atlas, i believe you..the proof is in the pudding (picture)..can’t believe you only got a few scraps of thanksgiving dinner!
Helen: Atlas appreciates your staunch support! He knows you would have fed him.
Lelainia: I knew it! Well, I’ll keep letting him eat it then. I bet Indy thinks of it as Turkey Day! I saw your lab board on Pinterest, loved it.
Jerry: Yes, I definitely don’t mind following them. Plus, I do think that in a pinch, if I really needed him, I would win out, just not in average daily life.
Tammy: It’s so true! It has been tested and proven. I was so curious whether kitties or food would win out so it was rather fun to see it in action the first time that was tested. Especially since he had a special bone at the time, so it was a true test.
You are his human kitty cat and the food of his soul.
Third in line…boy, I know how that feels! Any one of my dogs would ditch me in a second for a good bone. Especially today. I cleaned their ears last night. You should’ve JoJo’s “You traitor!!” look.
lol… I can just picture him going in for the piece of bread.
That is so endearing.
I’ve never met him, but I love your dog immensely.
