throbbing around a singing fire
and life
echoing through a whirlwind of elastic fireflies.

Wide-eyed wonderer
beauty is the sound of a milkweed lament
throbbing around a singing fire
and life
echoing through a whirlwind of elastic fireflies.
Your title, “a singing fire”, brings back a couple of childhood memories. One, sitting around a beach fire singing songs. Two, listening to wet wood whistle when placed on the beach fire.
I’ve never heard wet wood whistle! I want to remember to try it.
Love the image/reminder of fires + singing. I have many of those memories myself, though not from childhood.
The wood has to be green or somewhat waterlogged. It will whistle when water inside the wood vaporized and the steam comes out.
oh my.
both of you… elizabeth and jerry…
images to delight my mind.
