my happy heart is a thankful heart

Berries

i celebrate thanksgiving in my own way.

i celebrate the idea of thanks giving year round. i celebrate the day with three of my favorite things: atlas, a hike, and cooking. the ritual started when i worked too much and didn't want to leave atlas alone on thanksgiving day. now, i just think it's a lovely way to spend the day. this year, there will be no hike and i am making nachos instead of cooking; the pup and i both need to rest.

i was thinking about thanks giving when i found this quote. it perfectly sums up how i feel about the idea of trying to express my gratitude in one succinct blog post, or in one day, or at all.

"Gratitude is one of the least articulate of the emotions, especially when it is deep." - Felix Frankfurter

yes. that. exactly.

may your day be full of peace, love, and laughter.

Like you, Elizabeth, I think of every day as thanks-giving. But I do like this extra day to express that thankfulness and gratitude. I like how you celebrate…mmm…nachos in stead of cooking–brilliant choice! I am thankful for your friendship. :o) Wishing you, Atlas and all of yours a happy & blessed Thanksgiving ((HUGS))

I love hearing about the ways that people personalize holidays to meet their own needs. I hope you and Atlas have a lovely day!
And I really love this picture. A lot. Thanks!

my zekey and i always took a special walk on the holidays. the only thing that really made it special was i told him what holiday it was!
our walks were special everyday. i so miss him.
people think it’s terrible to be “alone” on any holiday. it’s not! sometimes you can be alone in a crowd, as they say.
i always have a pot of beans and cornbread and put up my christmas tree!
    love,
    tammy j

  4. The meal has been eaten.
    The kitchen is clean.
    The leftovers are stashed.
    The walk has been taken.
Everyone is happy and fed and blessed.
Now I have the time to stop by.
On this Thanksgiving Day, I wanted to tell you that I am thankful for you; for this blog; for our friendship. Sending you much love, Relyn

  5. I am thankful for nachos. Whenever I find myself alone for an evening and happen to have both tortilla chips and cheese in the house (rare), that’s what I make. Cheers to melty cheese!
