and we’re back!
i went for a photo walk yesterday.
i know. it doesn't sound newsworthy. it was to me, though; i had only used my camera once since the end of august.
at first, i thought i must be in resistance, and i wondered what on earth was blocking me from one of my favorite things. eventually, i realized that it was just time for a break. it was time to see and be and wander without the weight of a camera, instead of always looking at the world from behind my lens.
it was a lovely break and it feels good to be home.

Awe! Welcome back- I myself am waiting to go on a break and leave the camera in it’s case for a little while. It’s so much more fun to pick it up again after letting it rest. I always love what you see.
Love the texture of these photos! Welcome back, camera!
Ah, I know how that is. Sometimes it’s nice for a break to be in the moment rather than cataloging it. Which totally reminds me I need to renew my library card, so thanks! And welcome back!
Welcome back!! I really love it when I pick up something that I really enjoy but haven’t done in a while. It’s like sinking into my favorite comfy chair…or taking a bubble bath at the end of a long day. I picked up a book yesterday and this character that I love leapt off the page. I forget how much I enjoy reading fiction!
I have to echo Julie above: I always love what you see.
What a lovely set of fall images! Welcome back.
It was worth waiting for…I love these shots! I feel that way sometimes, too. Sometimes I want to capture everything, and sometimes I want to be more present. Either way, JOY.
thanks, gals!
and @tammy: yes, i always have more images that i would share than i would ever have time to do so.
Hi, I just found your blog from http://amongthesehills.blogspot.com/. Your second-to-last paragraph struck a chord with me, because I often feel the same way. “…i wondered what on earth was blocking me from one of my favorite things…” I also like to go on walks with my camera, but sometimes consciously choose to leave it behind so I can enjoy my surroundings without feeling like I “have” to take a picture. (Although it is nice to see the wonderful results you got this last time you took your camera on a walk!) Thanks for sharing.
